Let’s remember that Pride Month is about the resilience, creativity and beauty of the LGBTQ community. The month of June is also about continuing the fight for acceptance and equality. If parades or events aren’t your thing, here are some ways to celebrate in your own way:
- Become an activist & ally
- Learn about LGBTQ leaders in history
- Learn about history. June wasn’t chosen as LGBTQ Pride Month on a whim. The Stonewall Riots, which many consider to be the beginning of the modern LGBT rights movement, occurred in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 — and is the reason pride is in June.
